Brighton will need ‘record fee’ to sell star.

English Champions interested in rising star.

Brighton and Hove Albion have named their price for promising central defender, Ben White. The Englishman is a wanted man by a few clubs in England’s top flight.

According to Sports Mole Brighton and Hove Albion are demanding £50 million for their prized asset. Leeds were interested in signing Ben White in the summer, but the Seagull’s rebuffed multiple bids, insisting that White will remain on the south-coast. The defender has settled into the team and has even signed a new contract at the club. This contract was supposed to but an end to speculation surrounding White’s future.

The speculation will not go away, however, Liverpool are set to step up their interest in the 23-year-old. The Reds are in need of a new centre-back after the injury sustained by Virgil van Dijk. The Dutchman is set for a long period on the sidelines after a heavy challenge in the Merseyside derby.

Liverpool’s defence is significantly weaker without the star defender. Jurgen Klopp only has Joel Matip, Joe Gomez and youngster Sepp van den Berg as natural centre-back options. These options have seen the german manager favour selecting Fabinho in the defence as he provides more solidity at the back.

From Brighton’s point of view the issues Liverpool have does not concern them. Manager Graham Potter does not want to lose White and he sees the defender as a big part of the clubs future. The current system Brighton are playing in requires three centre-backs, currently Lewis Dunk, Dan Burn and Adam Webster. White has usually been selected in the defence, but against Palace he was used in the midfield.

White’s future is in the defence, but in the meantime his utility makes him even more valuable to Brighton. The Seagull’s have shown their resilience in the transfer market already and will have to prepare to do the same to keep Liverpool’s approaches at bay.
