Brighton On Top Of Specific Table

Brighton are the best at tackling outside according to the The Other 14.

Brighton and Hove Albion may not be having the best start to the Premier League season, but the Seagulls are succeeding in one particular area.

Graham Potter’s side are currently sitting in 16th in the Premier League table only two points from the relegation zone. The Seagull’s have dropped down the table since their 3-0 victory over Newcastle United. Now winless in five Premier League games results need to improve quickly before they are sucked into another relegation battle.

A common trend is appearing in Brighton’s performances, the team will play well and deserve something from a game but will walk away with nothing having dropped points the game. This is precisely what happened against Manchester United, Crystal Palace and Tottenham Hotspur. If the club had got something out of those games, then the South Coast side would be much higher up the table.

One reason for Brighton’s good performances is their ability to tackle their opponents. The Other 14 have reported that Brighton have the best tackling statistics out of any team outside of the traditional ‘big six’.

Brighton top the table in terms of tackling outside of the traditional ‘big six’ teams.

According to The Other 14, Brighton have successfully completed 105 tackles in the Premier League at a team success rate of 71% better than any of the other teams outside of the traditional ‘big six’. Brighton have also only been dribbled past forty-three times, a record only bettered by Sean Dyche’s Burnley side.

If Brighton can improve other areas of their defending, then they will have no problems staying in the Premier League. The Seagulls have dropped the most points from winning positions this season, only West Brom have dropped as many (5).

Brighton need to start holding on to winning positions.

Brighton are a good team with good players, the additions of Adam Lallana and Danny Welbeck brings a lot of Premier League experience. Graham Potter needs to find a system of cementing their leads and picking up points when the team is playing well and deserving of something.
