Lamptey has become a star at Brighton.

Bayern Munich are one of the sides interested in the youngster.

After his impressive performances, Tariq Lamptey could be set for a new bumper new contract at Brighton and Hove Albion.

Brighton and Hove Albion breakout star, Tariq Lamptey may only have played a handful of games for the Seagull’s, but he is already attracting interest from elsewhere.

Tariq Lamptey was signed by Brighton and Hove Albion in January from Chelsea for a fee of around £3 million after only making three appearances for the Blues. Since joining the Seagulls, Lamptey has gone from strength to strength and become one of the first names on Graham Potter’s teamsheet.

The London born right-back broke into the first-team during ‘Project Restart’ and made eight appearances for Brighton. The. 20-year-old even managed to pick up an assist in a 3-1 defeat to Liverpool. This season Lamptey has continued to impress.

The young star has played in all six of Brighton’s Premier League matches, assisting three goals. Lamptey has been just as impressive defensively as he has been in the attack. The 20-year-old has averaged over two tackles and two interceptions per ninety minutes, as well as one clearance per match.

Lamptey is able to play down the entire right side of a team because of his ability to attack and defend. The ability the youngster has shown has seen his market value rise significantly over the past few months. After Brighton paid £3 million for him his value is now at £16.2 million according to transfermarkt.com.

The former Chelsea man discuses how he improves himself as a player.

The rise of Lamtpey has started to attract interest from bigger clubs. Bayern Munich were linked with a move for the youngster towards the end of the summer transfer window. No move materialised, but it is believed that the German giants are still interested in Lamptey’s signature.

Brighton remains keen to keep hold of their star player and are planning to offer him a bumper new deal. Lamptey is currently on wages of £14,000 per week, and the Seagull’s are planning to increase this substantially.

Only time will tell if Lamptey agrees to extend his stay with Brighton, but at the moment there is still three and a half years remaining on his current contract. If Brighton prove as stubborn over Lamptey as they were with Ben White it could be a long-time before the rising star leaves the South Coast.
